What is The Forever Friends Appeal
The Forever Friends Appeal is the fundraising charity for the Royal United Hospitals Bath. They raise money to make a real difference to patients and their families by funding:
Major builds/redevelopments to create holistic and welcoming environments e.g. The Dyson Cancer Centre, the RNHRD and Therapies Centre
Specialist medical equipment for all wards and departments
Research and innovations as well as staff resources
Support services e.g. the Friendly Faces Project - helping people living with Dementia during their stay in hospital.
Since 1999, The Forever Friends Appeal has raised more than £20 million for the RUH. From January 2019, The Forever Friends Appeal are organising a number of special events to mark 20 years of fundraising.
With your support, The Forever Friends Appeal can continue to help enhance the care and treatment of patients.
The Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care opened its doors on the 23rd July 2011 to its first babies. The Royal United Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), in Bath, has been transferred from its existing small, cramped facilities into its pioneering new home.
The Dyson Centre for Neonatal care funded as a 50/50 partnership by NHS budgets and fundraising by The Forever Friends Appeal, has resulted in a dramatically different and improved environment in which the RUH can care for the 500 premature and sick babies that it looks after each year. A pioneering holistic and therapeutic approach towards the new building has created a new low carbon unit allowing the staff to practice new methods of care for premature and sick babies.
The Charity has been chosen by Stuart himself. His daughter Isabella was in NICU during the first few weeks of her life and so is very close to his heart.
“My memories of this experience, the support we got from the staff and the absolute trust you give over to the Doctors and Nurses at this facility in protecting your most vulnerable and precious being is still so fresh in my mind. My wife and I were so thankful at the time and remain in awe of the work that goes on there”
Isabella is 10 years old now, and enjoys Ballet, Piano and Art and one day would like to become a designer like her father.
For each cushion sold £20 is donated to NICU where it is primarily used to maintain and improve the facilities offered to the babies and their parents.
